ABSTRACT: Examining the effects of early childhood education on parenting styles in urban settings is essential for understanding its broader impact on family dynamics. This study aimed to investigate how early childhood education influences parenting practices in urban areas. The objectives were to (1) assess changes in parenting styles, (2) evaluate the impact on parent-child interactions, and (3) examine the role of early childhood education in supporting positive parenting practices. A survey design was employed to systematically collect data from participants. A purposive sample of 120 parents of children aged 3-5 years was selected from an early childhood education center in Lagos State. Findings indicated significant changes in parenting styles towards more positive and supportive practices, improved parent-child interactions, and the crucial role of early childhood education in fostering positive parenting. Recommendations included providing parent education programs within early childhood centers and offering resources to support effective parenting practices.
